Malayalam crime thriller Pradhama Dristiya Kutkar has compared with Jeethu Joseph’s famous film vision After its theatrical release.

Now that the Parvathy Thiruvothu-starrer OTT has arrived, the similarities between the two films have become a topic of discussion among the audience.

Director Shahad Nilamboor, however, is happy to see his film being compared to Malayalam cinema’s most popular thriller. Instead of seeing comparisons as a burden, he sees them as a form of recognition.

Speaking to Onmanorama, Shahad said that he is happy that his film is being discussed alongside Jeethu Joseph’s thriller, given his status in Malayalam cinema.

Since its release, the film has also faced scrutiny on social media, with viewers questioning the logic behind certain scenes and pointing out what they believe are flaws in the screenplay. The OTT release has brought these discussions back into focus.

Shahad also spoke about his decision to explore a different style Pradhama Dristiya Kutkar. After making AnuragamHe wanted to move away from familiar storytelling territory and experiment with a different kind of film.

When asked if there could be a sequel to the crime thriller, the director did not rule out the possibility. However, he clarified that there are no immediate plans to take the story forward.

“Not at the moment. But seeing as the film ends with some questions, the possibility cannot be completely ruled out. However, nothing at the moment,” he told Onmanorama.

Pradhama Dristiya Kutkar was released in theaters on September 11, 2026, and premiered on Netflix on October 9.
