Parineeti Chopra, who is enjoying the success of her series debut with Netflix’s Shaq, fondly remembered her Shuddha Desi Romance co-star Sushant Singh Rajput during a promotional event. Parineeti, who worked with Sushant Singh Rajput in the 2013 romantic-comedy, said she has never seen anyone make her happy from the bottom of her heart. Apart from their filmy journey, the lead pair also shared an ‘academic’ bent.
During the shooting of the film Shuddh Desi Romance, Parineeti was announced as the National Award Winner (Special Mention) for her debut film Ishaqzaade.
Parineeti shared Sushant’s emotional outburst on this incident zoomThe National Award was announced. I was sitting with both of them (Rishi Kapoor, Sushant). Hamari Chhuti Thi (It was a holiday for us). We were sitting by the pool at the hotel. And then I got a message from Karan (Johar). It said, “Congratulations.” I wondered what it was for. Sushant gets excited and says he will find out the reason.
‘He came to know that the national awards had been announced. I have never seen anyone so excited, so happy for me. He stood on those pool-deck chairs. He started shouting, “I am working with a national award winner”. I was mad too. Rishi Sir said, “You both have gone mad, you have lost your minds”. Sushant hugged me. I started crying.
‘He’s the one who’s gone’ Went to the set the next day and announced that it had happened. He was like my friend. He was like my cheerleader,’ added Parineeti.
Parineeti was a banker before entering films, while Sushant was an engineer before entering films. Because of academics, Parineeti shared that she used to talk to him a lot apart from films.
‘We were going to do another film with Homi (Adajania). But it never worked. Sushant and I used to have academic conversations. I am also a banker by qualification. He had done something before coming to films. So we will talk about stars, economics. He really got me. I used to get him.
‘We really got each other. He was the best. He is cute,’ Parineeti fondly remembers him.

It was screened in the Gala Presentations section of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai in June 2020.
In September 2020, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on drug charges related to the Sushant Singh Rajput case and sent to Mumbai’s Byculla Jail. He was accused of procuring and supplying drugs to the late actor. The actress got bail after 28 days.
