review
In her review for NDTV, Lata Srinivasan wrote, “Ranbali is an ambitious film that falls short in execution and is a very disappointing cinematic experience.
“Director Rahul Sankrityan’s screenplay falls short as the narrative is too slow, the pacing is uneven and it offers no innovation to the audience in terms of a period drama set during the colonial era.
“The Great Madras Fine is interesting as a background as the screenplay is about anger, survival and rebellion but ultimately, the protagonist of the story is the heroism of Ranabali and the repeated brutality of the British. While the director has ensured scale in this period film, the emotional depth is needed to bring alive the suffering of the people.”
