New Delhi:

Singer Mika Singh recently revealed that Daler Singh was reprimanded on stage by an Uttarakhand cabinet minister for allegedly drinking before his performance after he cried during a phone call a day later. The incident took place during a cultural event.

Mika Singh addressed a press conference on 23 October, where he mentioned that he came to know about the drunken video row after his event in Surat. He tried to call his brother Daler Singh but Daler Singh did not answer his phone.

Additionally, Mika Singh said that it took her time to figure out how to address the issue publicly, as it bothered her a lot.

Mika Singh said, “When I called Paaji the next day, he started crying because he was emotional. I didn’t even say anything and he already started crying.”

Mika Singh recalled, “I told him that if your health is not good, you should not say yes. Secondly, if the minister scolded you, you should have responded immediately. You should have said, ‘I am not bought, I am not another singer.’

Daler Singh replied to him, “Mika, you know that I cannot talk to anyone by shouting.”

Mika Singh further said that Daler Singh was confused as to why he was being insulted. He advised her to lie down and not answer any calls or talk to anyone about the incident immediately.

New post of Mika Singh with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand

In a new development in the Daler Mehndi ‘Sharab’ video row, the singer’s brother Mika Singh today shared a picture with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami on his X handle, claiming that Mr. Dhami had called him personally to resolve the issue. Mika Singh also claimed that he has requested the Chief Minister that Uttarakhand minister Subodh Unyal, who publicly humiliated Daler Mehndi on stage and accused him of being a ‘drunk’, should issue a video message and apologize to the senior singer.

“I have a lot of respect for the honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, @pushkardhamiji. He called me personally about the matter involving Darer Bhai, and I really appreciate his gesture.

“I know Dhami saab very well. He is a humble, down-to-earth person, and I have a lot of respect for him,” Mika Singh wrote.

“My only humble request to them is to please ask Mr. @subodh unyal1 ji to make a simple video to clarify his statement and apologize to Darer bhai for saying that he was drunk during the performance.

“I believe there can be misunderstandings, but they can also be resolved. I hope this small gesture will help put things to rest and ensure that Darer Bhai’s dignity and reputation is respected,” Singh wrote.

“I have faith in Dhami Saab’s understanding and leadership,” he added.

The incident comes after Chief Minister Dhami said that he wants to end the row recently.

Chief Minister Dhami said at a press conference, “Uttrakhand is a land of artists, where everyone is treated with respect. I think this matter should be stopped here. I will talk to Mika and Daler Mehndi. Both are my good friends.” He added, “I believe the minister must have been under public pressure at that time. The minister himself has said that he was unaware that Daler Mehndi was ill.”

Why did Subodh Unyal scold Daler Mehndi?

Darer Mehndi was performing at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri tourism and development fair on Sunday night when Subodh Unyal stopped him and criticized his behavior on stage.

During the exchange, the minister was heard saying to the singer, “You can’t even speak, so how are you going to sing?” The comments, which suggested that Darer was intoxicated, were captured in a video that later went viral on social media.

Following the backlash, Unyal spoke to ANI and explained his reasons for confronting the singer publicly. Acknowledging Daler’s stature as an artiste, the minister said he was unhappy with the performance and believed the singer had not done justice to his art.

“He is a big artiste. If a big artiste doesn’t do justice to his art… He looked uncomfortable on stage and was not even able to stand. Besides, he was lip-syncing to his songs. I told him that he is a big artiste and he should do justice to his art; he was offered Rs 35 lakh to come, but I refused to sing.”

The minister’s clarification added another dimension to the controversy, which has since drawn reactions from several members of the entertainment industry.
