Days after Abhijit Bhattacharya criticized Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi and accused him of lip-syncing, the singer’s son Gurdeep Mehndi has come to the rescue. During a recent live performance, Gurdeep addressed the matter on stage and expressed his dismay at Abhijeet’s comments.
On stage, Gurdeep said in Hindi, “You’ll be happy to know that I’m singing live. There’s no lip-syncing, it’s all thanks to my father, Daler Mehndi. Because that’s what I learned from him: one should always sing live.”
He added, “There are some artistes who will say anything to get some views. The way Abhijit Da spoke recently… I didn’t expect him to speak like that, and that too for a great singer like my father. Grandpa, I will send you the footage of that day, and you will know that he was actually singing live, not singing live.”
In his closing remarks, Gurdeep added, “People go through good times and bad times; everyone does. But, brother, I would request you to be humble. I hope you get rid of your misconception.”

Yet this is something that happens on stages everywhere,” he said.
Although Abhijeet did not name Daler Mehndi, the comment was aimed at the famous singer.
