Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is not backing down from his upcoming Indore concert, despite several controversies surrounding the event.
The singer, who will be performing in the city on November 15 as part of his Aura India tour, has made it clear that he intends to keep his commitment to his fans.
Addressing the concerns surrounding the concert, Diljit said he would be visiting Indore and even made a special mention of the city’s famous Poha.
“I will visit Indore on November 15. I will have poha first after coming to Indore. One can say anything, but I will meet you in Indore on November 15. I have heard in the news that something will happen’.the crisis‘. But we know how to handle it. Do they know who we are?” he said.
His comments come amid growing uncertainty surrounding the November 15 show. The concert has been in the news over security concerns, bomb threat emails and bans on certain songs in his setlist.
Why is Diljit Dosanjh’s Indore concert surrounded by controversy?
Earlier this week, three private schools and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava’s office received bomb threat emails allegedly linked to Diljit’s upcoming concert. The emails warned of a possible bombing during the Nov. 15 event and also warned schools not to send students to the concert.
After the threats, the bomb disposal squad searched the three schools but found no explosives. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia said that preliminary investigation revealed that these emails may be fake. The crime branch is examining technical evidence to identify the senders.
It wasn’t the only development around the concert. On November 6, the District Child Protection Officer in Indore asked the management of C-21 Mall to ensure that Diljit does not perform four songs during the function. There are songs written in the director’s name Patiale Peg, 5 Star Theke, Jive Vecho Labia And Jatt Uthe Fire Karda Jett Bandi Hiyaara Di.
The directive was issued following a complaint by Chandigarh-based professor Dr Panditrao Dharanwar, who reportedly raised concerns about songs promoting alcohol, drugs and weapons.
The official communication cited the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s 2019 order on songs glorifying drugs and violence. The venue management has been asked to ensure compliance with the instructions.
Diljit Dosanjh’s concerts have also faced hurdles in other cities
The development in Indore came at a time when Diljit faced several challenges while organizing his concerts in other parts of the country. His recent Delhi concert, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, also faced uncertainty after the Delhi Police initially withheld permission citing security concerns and law and order arrangements during the festive season.
Organizers later presented a revised security plan incorporating additional measures for security, traffic management and crowd control. Permission was eventually granted, and the concert went ahead as scheduled. Arrangements reportedly included the deployment of around 2,000 security personnel and a 700m no-car zone around the venue.
After the Delhi performance, Diljit told them about the problems they faced and said that some people tried their best to stop the concert from happening. He also thanked the police personnel for helping to conduct the event.
The singer recently revealed another obstacle during an Instagram Live session. Their plans to stage a demonstration in Bihar did not materialize due to disagreements over crowd management responsibilities. According to Diljit, the authorities wanted him to take over the management of visitors, which he believes should be handled by the administration.
Recalling the discussions, he said managing the concert crowd was no small undertaking and required considerable logistical planning. He also compared the arrangements to holding a large-scale event in Delhi.
Where is Diljit Dosanjh performing?
