Actress Kriti Sanon attended the NDTV World Summit 2026, where she spoke about ‘The Making of a Modern Star’ and shared her concerns about the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially when it comes to personal rights and abuse of online images.

Speaking at the event, Kriti said, “AI scares me. I think it scares a lot of people. But I think it’s a tool, not a destination. The thing is, it’s a very sharp tool and the sharper the tool, the more dangerous it can be.”

The actor said he was in favor of technological advancements but stressed that laws needed to evolve alongside them.

“I’m all for technology and innovation. But ultimately, laws have to evolve with technology. I don’t know if we’re ready for the kind of things that AI can actually do. When it comes to personal rights, I think it’s very scary. The stuff you see online is very scary,” he said.

Kriti also explained how difficult it is becoming to distinguish real images from AI-generated ones.

“There’s a very thin line between what a real image looks like and what an AI-generated image looks like. I think we’re really unprepared for what AI can become, and there needs to be some legislation,” he said.

The actor also spoke about the lack of clear reporting options on social media platforms when one’s image is misused by AI.

Giving the example of Instagram, she said, “Even on Instagram, honestly, if I want to report something, there’s no option that says, ‘This is my AI-generated image, and therefore it should be reported and removed.’ So, we’re still not evolving as fast as technology.”
