Veteran Yadav on juggling a full-time job and content creation
The veteran also talked about balancing his full-time job at an advertising agency with creating content. She said she would jot down ideas whenever they came to her and shoot videos after work or during weekends.
She said, “Working full-time in an advertising agency meant I would write down reel ideas immediately. I would shoot after work or batch 5-6 reels in my kitchen on weekends for lighting. I had to do it alone, so the single-character approach emerged. Red Flag Girl’s strong performance validated this, prompting me to reclaim my personal qualities. To speak to a wider and more diverse audience. Rebrand.”
As his material evolved, the veteran began to move away from trends and focused on creating original characters inspired by real life. He said that he initially experimented with dance reels and Bollywood tropes but later found more scope in developing characters rooted in everyday experiences.
This led to series like ‘Girl Next Door’ and ‘Aunt Next Door’, which allowed her to incorporate more local and culturally specific elements into her material.
The veteran said, “Initially, I jumped on trends like dance reels or Bollywood tropes, but I reached a limit. To push the boundaries, I tapped into real life, developed the ‘Girl Next Door’ and ‘Auntee Next Door’ series, leaning towards more culturally specific, locally rooted stories. Their search for how to connect people with my hometown. And I Wanted my content to feel real.”
She also spoke about her decision not to change her appearance or use filters to conform to traditional beauty standards, saying she wanted her characters to be relatable rather than being caricatures.
The veteran added, “As a person of color in a society where lighter skin tone is often considered more desirable, it was important not to change my appearance to fit a certain standard. My characters needed to be grounded, not idiosyncratic. So, I also chose not to use filters at first. This change resonated deeply, proving the true growth of my storytelling.”
He has also collaborated with leading brands including Amazon Prime Video and Cleartrip on advertising and promotional campaigns.
