‘King’ Shah Rukh Khan surprised his fans on his 61st birthday on November 2 as he dropped the first song from his upcoming film, Siddharth Anand. the king. Ed Sheeran took to Instagram earlier today to share a short story of when he first met Shah Rukh Khan and how the superstar asked him to compose a song for his film, which will also be Sheeran’s Bollywood musical debut.
He has shared a video of himself recording the song. The Hindi verses, in particular, are truly impressive as Ed Sheeran sings along. He paired the video with snippets of the recently released track.
The caption read, “When I first met Shah Rukh, he said I should make a song for his next film and it should also be my first Bollywood song. We’ve known each other for years and I love him. Last time I was in India, I went to his house to shoot a cameo in the Sapphire music video for me and @arijitsingh.”
He added, “That day he introduced me to @sanchojigar and I wrote and recorded my verse for *Tu Mil Jae* for his film *King* that night. I love that Arijit is singing on it with me, all my favorite people on one project. *King* is out on December 24th and *Tu Mil Jae* is out everywhere now.”

Picturing the lead pair, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the song Tu Mil Jae celebrates love, charisma and of course, Deepika-SRK chemistry. With intense tones of bloodshed, violence and stylized action, the song also depicts the secret ‘king’ly mission that drives the main plot of the film.
The exotic locale, hook dance step and Shah Rukh-Deepika’s friendship also remind the audience of their past associations in Pathan and Jawan, which had similar background songs.
Before the lead pair light up your screen, Shah Rukh introduces himself with these words: “I am not a killer, Aashiq hoon, nishan meri masuka, wo aur aashiqui kya jo dil chir na de (I am not a killer, but a lover. My beloved is my purpose. And what is love if it does not break the heart).”
