Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s much awaited film. Ramayana. behind the scenes video From the film, the actor was seen reflecting on the responsibility attached to the project. The look also gave a glimpse of Ranbir’s physical transformation for the role and the makers’ vision for the mythological epic.

Ranbir said, “Lord Ram’s greatest strength is not his bow; it’s his kshama (forgiving nature) – his ability to forgive. Yeh is not a role. It’s not that I’ve been offered a film and the role is exciting. It’s a responsibility.”

He added, “Everything comes down to the faith and simplicity of the person playing the role of Lord Rama. I remind myself every day that my job was not to be worthy of this role. My job was to be worthy of the faith that people put in this story.”

The video featured Arun Govil weighing in on the casting of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and explaining why he felt the actor was perfect for the role. He said, “I always imagined Lord Rama to walk, sit, talk or carry himself, Ranbir has some such qualities. Normally, you don’t expect a superstar to touch your feet, but he always does.” In Ramayana, Arun Govil is playing the role of King Dasharatha, the father of Lord Rama.

In the same video, Nitesh Tiwari talks about the challenge of casting Lord Rama. “In India, we believe that if we capture even 1 percent of Sri Ram, it will make us a great man. So just imagine, what kind of man he must be. And so casting Sri Ram is impossible. We can only try. When Namit discussed Ranbir’s name, I also thought he checked all the boxes,” he said.

Ramayana There are also Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The mythological epic is planned as a two-part film. The first installment is slated to hit theaters on Diwali this year, followed by the second installment on Diwali 2027.
