Manoj Bajpai has spoken about the time the controversy over his latest Netflix film turned personal and his family was targeted online. The actor felt helpless when people started sharing pictures of his family members and posted threatening messages.
The movie, now titled wonderful nightThe name was first announced in February The sneaky pundit. The original title was met with criticism and several groups called it offensive. The makers later changed the title, but Vajpayee said he didn’t expect the issue to grow this much.
What bothered him was not the criticism, but the way strangers brought his family into the matter. He said many of the posts came from “bots and headless, faceless people,” making it difficult to know who was behind them.
talking with PTIManoj Vajpayee said, “You go ahead and attack me with the worst thing, I’ll take it because I’m an actor. I’ve gone from rejecting everything to (where) you’re called all kinds of things. That’s why you’re thick-skinned. At the end of the day, I feel bad for all the people who either know very little about my life or know very little about me. Not a bit when they Started publishing photos of my family and started saying things.
“I am a person who is very easy (going) in life, I like to be happy and have fun all the time. But at the same time, when my near and dear ones need to be saved, I am very confrontational. But who can I face because there are nameless people,” he added.
Manoj Vajpayee said that the team looked at five or six names before choosing the original title of the film. They believed it was perfect for the story and its main character, but they never expected to cause such a huge controversy.
He felt that people were criticizing the title without knowing what the film was about. He and his family were also threatened over this issue. Despite the threats, Manoj continued to roam freely. In some places local authorities advised him not to step outside, but he did not let fear stop him.
