At the NDTV Yuva 2026 session titled Fatima No Filter, the actress reacted to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s proposal for a 570% increase in entertainment tax for air-conditioned cinema halls and multiplexes.
Fatima Sana Sheikh said, “Who will watch movies now? By the way no one was watching. It’s also great. Single theaters are already gone. Popcorn costs only Rs 1,000.”
On preparation for his police role

She said, “I was very keen to play a cop, but I didn’t want to play a normal cop, like getting into the physicality – I wasn’t interested. I was keen to get into the mind of an officer. I met a lot of officers of different ranks – constables, inspectors. I was lucky that they were also open to sharing their stories and everything.”
He continued, “What happens is, a person comes from certain experiences, and we believe that they are all the same. But they are not. Sometimes your duty demands something that is contrary to morality. So when that person goes home, meets his family, what does he feel?”
He added, “Some things are stereotyped. We believe that when there is interrogation there is only brutality. Emotional tactics are also used.”
Upon judging the system
Speaking about the tendency to judge ‘the system’, Fatima Sana Shaikh explained that there are both good and bad people within it.
He said, “Usually, when we talk about the system in our real life, we get upset because we believe it’s only created to tear us down. It’s a faceless entity that does everything wrong. Every system has good and bad people – some fail us, some want to protect us. So painting them in one color, I can differentiate it because of this role. On Instagram, when I read a post about it, when I see it If they read something good about it, then they do something.’ Share.”
