New Delhi:
Jailor 2’s The costume designer has called out the makers of the film for cutting Mohanlal’s three looks in Rajinikanth’s film and cutting the trailer’s appearance. Mohanlal played Mathew in the film, and costume designer Jishad Shamsuddin has claimed that the superstar actually had a bigger role in the sequel. However, after these events, Jishad said that he would not return if another sequel was made.
In a social media post, Jishad Shamsuddin wrote, “To everyone who loves and supports me – with release. Jailer 2, I want to share an important update!! Based on what was shot, I was confident in my work, even though the 2-second look in the trailer was cut short. But with the release of the film, Mohanlal sir’s three different looks were completely cut, and even that trailer scene was cut.”
He added, “From my experience in cinema, cutting scenes involving a superstar like Mohanlal sir is simply unnecessary. Seeing our superstar being reduced like this, if there is a sequel, I will not be a part of it. I am truly sorry for all those who trusted me. I do not stand for favours, profits, fans, crores club. Lovers of the craft, and Mohanlal sir have always stood by my journey. Thanks for staying.
Mohanlal’s character in Jailer 2
Mohanlal plays Mathew, a notorious smuggler and friend of Rajinikanth’s character, Muthuvel Pandian, in Prisoner 2. Her wardrobe consisted of bright clothes and sunglasses. According to the costume designer’s claims, it appears that Mohanlal had more scenes than what was shown in the film at the end, and those parts of his role were cut.
