Sonal Chauhan will be one of the personalities joining NDTV Yuva 2026. Ahead of her appearance at the event, here’s a look back at her journey.
From beauty pageants to Bollywood
Sonal’s film journey did not start from the film sets. It started from the competition stage. In 2005, she won the Femina Miss India title and, the same year, was crowned Miss World Tourism. These wins brought him into the spotlight and set him on a path that would eventually lead him to films.
In 2008, Sonal made his acting debut heavenWith Emraan Hashmi. This film introduced him to the Hindi film audience and became the first major step in his acting career.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Sonal said that she appreciates the love she got for her debut film.
“I like to be called that heaven the girl I think very few actors get what I got in my first film,” Sonal told NDTV.
She added that even years after the film’s release, she feels special being recognized by her character or the film.
“Until today, I am called by my character’s name, or I am known as Jannat Girl, and why would I object to that? I think it’s just beautiful that in my first film, I got so much love that the audience still hasn’t grown out of it,” she said.
His journey after Bollywood debut

Sonal’s career then took him to other regional industries. He debuted in Kannada with Cheluway ni Nadlu Entered Tamil cinema in 2010 with Eng In 2015. Over the years, she has acted in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films.
Now, almost two decades later, Sonal is in the limelight once again with his first film Mirzapur: Film In 2026.

In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Sonal spoke about the overwhelming response the film has received.
He said, “Honestly, I don’t think any of us expected such a storm at the box office. I mean, like I said, you know, we were all nervous and we didn’t know how the audience would take this transition from OTT to the big screen.”
For Sonal, however, the audience’s love for the individual characters is more meaningful than the numbers alone.
“But obviously, it’s been amazing and the love we’re getting from the audience is the most important thing. The numbers are amazing, but the way the audience has received this film and the way they’ve received me as Mumtaz is unbelievable and it’s beautiful,” she said.
He concluded, “Sometimes there are films that make a lot of money, but we don’t listen or we don’t get that much love for each character. But here, it’s both. So of course, we’re all very, very happy and happy.”
Mirzapur: Film Hits the big screen on September 4.
