Days after Nana Patekar’s death, old friend and actress Sushmita Mukherjee remembered her with a soul-stirring tribute. Sharing pictures from Deepti Naval’s birthday party on February 3, 1991, Sushmita reminisced about the lost time, the innocence and the moments that were intrinsically connected to the individuals who were part of the memory.
“Just the four of us. Wine, music, laughter, and even a piano. A little world of our own, untouched by the complexities of life that lie ahead.
“And then, one of us slipped.
We mourned not only the person we had lost, but also the absence of what once was – that moment, togetherness, innocence, and a time we could never get back,” Sushmita wrote.
Sushmita recalls a time when a dear friend of 38 years sent her a bunch of pictures.
“The memories were hazy, the details blurred by time. But when I looked at those photos, something magical happened. They awakened a part of my mind where memories lay quietly, waiting to be rediscovered. Suddenly, it all came rushing back. Well, not everything, maybe, but the emotions certainly did, the days in their love, and a deep memory for all that once was.
“These pictures were taken on my friend Deepti’s birthday, February 3, 1991,” he wrote.
“Somewhere along the journey, we learn that life is uncertain, forever changing, forever moving. People come, people go, memories fade and then, sometimes, a few pictures bring it all back.
“And through it all, we keep moving forward, holding each other, celebrating the unknown, and cherishing every moment of this beautiful, bittersweet journey called life,” the actor captioned Life’s Constant Truth.
A week ago, Deepti Naval remembered Nana Patekar with a film. He wrote, “A fight moment between Nana and me from Gautam Ghosh’s film ‘Yatra’…”
