Ranbir Kapoor has said that he will play the role of Lord Ram in his upcoming film The Ramayana Gave him a chance to learn more about the character and become a better person. The actor admitted that he was initially apprehensive when he was offered the role, as he felt it came with a huge responsibility.
During an appearance on Ranbir shared his thoughts about the role of Lord Ram Who will become a millionaire (KBC) With his co-stars Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey.
During the episode, host Amitabh Bachchan asked Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey about their initial reaction when they were offered the roles of Lord Rama, Sita Maa and Lakshmana respectively.
Ranbir said that his first reaction was fear as he knew that playing Lord Ram was not just another act. He also understood that millions of people have faith in Lord Rama, which made the responsibility even greater.
“When I was offered this role, I knew it was not just a role, it was a huge responsibility. My first instinct was to fear, am I qualified to play this role?
He said, “Will I be able to play this role? Crores of people have faith in Lord Shri Ram. But soon this fear turned into gratitude.”
However, the actor added that his initial apprehension soon turned into gratitude as he realized that he had been given an opportunity to play an important character.
Ranbir also explained how he got this role when he became a father. “I felt grateful that I had this opportunity at this stage in my life and to become a better person,” he said.
The actor added that working on the film gave her an opportunity to learn more about the epic and work with people she admires. Ranbir said, “It is not impossible to be like Lord Ram but it is a big thing for all of us to learn something from him.”
Sai Pallavi also talked about her experience of playing Sita Maa in the film. She said that instead of approaching the character in her usual way, she wanted to understand what she could learn from playing such an important role.
“I didn’t want to use my head this time. Every time I play a character, I think about what I can give to that character, but this was the first time I thought – ‘What will I get from playing a role like Sita Maa? What knowledge will I get from it?'” she said.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, The Ramayana A two-part adaptation of a Hindu epic. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mother Sita and Ravi Dubey as Laxman. Yash will play the role of Ravana while Sunny Deol will play the role of Hanuman. Rakul Preet Singh is also a part of Surpankha.
The first part of the film is slated to hit theaters on November 5, 2026. The music of the film is composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
