Tamannaah-Sidharth Malhotra’s latest offering, The Vaawan, has shown an upward trend since its release. The film, which opened with Rs 8 crore, collected Rs 33 crore (net) in India within three days. The worldwide total collection is Rs 43.15 crore.
Crunching the numbers
On its first Sunday, the film collected Rs 14.00 crore from 7,135 shows.
This was followed by Rs 8 crore on Friday and Rs 11.25 crore on Saturday.
This has taken the All India total to ₹39.65 crore and the All India total to ₹33.25 crore so far.
Overseas, the film collected ₹1.25 crore on the third day, taking its total overseas earnings to ₹3.50 crore so far. This took the worldwide total collection to ₹43.15 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the initial business of The Vawan as a ‘surprise’. Documenting its ‘surprise’ business in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Adarsh wrote, “TheVvaan takes a big step forward, touches double digits on Saturday, mass pockets and heartland deliver excellent business… Saturday Growth: 40.52%.
“It’s important… Several *moose entertainers* – #Dhurandhar2, #Border2, #BhoothBangla, #WTTJ, Dhamaal4, Awarapan2, and MirzapurTheMovie – have worked in *non-national chains* and *single screens* in Tier 2 and the latest centers in Tier 2 and 36. Besides attracting houseful boards.”
“Meanwhile, urban centers have shown better occupancy on Saturday as well, which is a positive sign… Sunday should also be in the same range as Saturday, with TheVvaan targeting ₹ 33 crore. [+/-] Opening weekend,” Adarsh wrote.
The Kalpana thriller is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra of Panchayat fame. The film stars Siddharth Malhotra and Tamannaah in the lead roles, with Anup Soni, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari and Manish Paul in supporting roles.
It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Neeraj Kothari, with production associated with Balaji Motion Pictures, TVF Motion Pictures and 11:11 Productions.
