Dristim 3 Took more than 100 drafts
while talking to Free Press Journal, Khan, who co-wrote the film with directors Abhishek Pathak and Parveez Shaikh, said the screenplay went through an extensive rewrite process. The author said he eventually lost count of the exact number of drafts he worked on.
“I have folders within folders, drafts with dates, numbers, dates after numbers, and files called things like ‘Final’, ‘Final 2’, ‘Final Final’ and possibly ‘Final Please God’. I’ve really lost count, but there are over a hundred drafts in various forms,” he said.
Climax was shared on a need-to-know basis
The makers have also taken strict steps to prevent the film’s big twist from being leaked. Khan revealed that some departments were only told what was necessary to execute a particular scenario without giving full context.
“Abhishek basically ran the production like Vijay Salgaonkar. A large part of the crew was not given the climax. People got the information on a need-to-know basis,” he said.
Khan added, “Sometimes a department only knew what it needed to execute a scene, not necessarily why it was executing it. Many of the film’s cast and crew, and my own friends and relatives, tried to bribe me for the ending. But like Gaitonde, I remained honest and loyal to the producers.”
to write Dristim 3 It was a big challenge
Khan added that one of the biggest challenges was to create an original story and retain the elements that the audience connects with the story. vision Franchise.
“It was a huge mountain to climb. You have a beloved franchise, a family that audiences have lived with for years, and the legacy of two much-loved films sitting on your shoulders. And most importantly, how do you surprise audiences the third time around?” He said.
The writer explained that the audience already knows Vijay Salgaonkar and is familiar with his way of thinking, which makes it difficult to balance humor, family, emotion, drama and thriller without allowing any one element to dominate the story.
He said, “In the first film, Vijay Salgaonkar is almost a blank slate. Now the audience knows him. They know how his mind works; they know he has tricks up his sleeve, and frankly, they suspect everything the poor man does.”
“Then there was the challenge of writing an original screenplay while retaining the DNA of ‘Phir’.vision‘. It still had to have humor, family, emotion, drama and thrills, without one part swallowing the other. It was a very, very thin tightrope. Thankfully, none of us looked down,” he concluded.
