Mrinal Thakur has extended his support to Katrina Kaif and Kriti Sanon after both the actors were trolled on social media for various reasons. Mrinal explained how women are often judged for their choices and actions. He said that people should respect the personal choices of actors while acknowledging their contribution to the film industry.
In a conversation with PTI, Mrinal said that both Katrina and Kriti have the right to make their own choices and enjoy different phases of their lives without being judged by others. “People who are judging all these famous women, do we forget the amazing work (they) have done and the contribution these two women have made to the industry and business? Be it Kriti or Katrina, they are running business not only in India but everywhere in the UK. I think people should not comment on anyone else. People are mad, what else can I say,” he said.
Mrinal added that while women have long faced constant judgment, men in today’s world are constantly finding themselves under similar scrutiny. “Women are always judged, and when are they not? But not just women, men are judged too,” she added.
Katrina Kaif became the target of online body-shaming after her appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations last month. The actress was criticized for her post-pregnancy weight. Katrina later addressed the issue at a London event for her brand, where she spoke about not allowing social media chatter to ‘paralyze’ her.
Kriti Sanon found herself at the center of controversy for her outfit in a jewelery ad released during Raksha Bandhan. The ad was withdrawn due to protests. However, Kriti defended herself saying that “culture and traditions are in a woman’s heart, not her neck”. She questioned when society would stop telling women what to wear.
On the work front, Mrinal Thakur’s latest release worship my life Streaming on ZEE5. Directed by Navjot Gulati, the film also stars Huma Qureshi, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz in lead roles.
