If you haven’t heard of Nitesh Tiwari then you must be living under a rock Ramayana.
From its Rs 4,000 crore budget and star-studded cast to its visual effects, Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic has been the talk of the town long before its theatrical release.
Now, actor Yash has revealed why the makers chose to keep the film’s big budget in the spotlight.
Speaking at Ramayana‘s international trailer launch event, Yash, who has co-produced the film under his Monster Mind Creations and Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, said he believes in openly discussing investment matters while presenting Indian productions to international audiences.
Yash, who plays Ravana in the film, said, “My partner Namit is not here today. He is currently busy with film business related work in the US, while we have started our promotions in India.”
“I know Namit’s statement went viral on social media,” Yash said.
“In India, there is a problem. People don’t like it when you speak with confidence. That’s what happened with Namit’s statement. But in the West it’s quite the opposite. If you tell them that we’ve made a good film with humility, they’ll dismiss our film as a small project. That’s why Namit says with full confidence that this film is the Rs 400 crore force we need in the Indian film industry. For the global market,” Yash Neb said. explained Yash has also clarified that this figure covers both installments of Ramayana, along with promotional and other related expenses, and not the first film alone.
“Ramayan is a two-part project, and the budget of both the films is definitely Rs 4000 crore. The budget also includes post-production and promotional expenses,” he added.
