hollywood star Jim Carrey has married his longtime girlfriend Min Ahn. A spokesperson for the 64-year-old actor confirmed the wedding to People on Wednesday, September 30. The couple has largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight, making their public appearances relatively infrequent. Their wedding comes seven months after they were photographed together while attending the Cesar Awards in France.
Jim Carrey’s sweet tribute to Min Ah
During the Cesar Awards, Jim spoke about Min Ah from the stage, and referred to her as his “partner” in a speech delivered entirely in French. He thanked his family, including his daughter Jane and grandson Jackson, during his speech before turning to Min Ah.
“Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and always. Thank you to my excellent partner, Min Ahn,” he said in French, as his daughter, grandson and girlfriend received applause from the crowd. “I love you, Min Ah. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.”
Jim and Min Ah have reportedly been together for at least a few years. In February 2022, Just Jared published photos of the couple leaving a charity comedy show hosted by Judd Apatow in Largo, Los Angeles.
Otherwise the actor remains quite quiet about his personal life. In April 2022, while promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2, he spoke to Access Hollywood about the possibility of stepping away from acting and spending more time enjoying a quiet life. When asked if he was serious, he replied, “I am quite serious.”
“It depends,” he explained. “If the angels bring some kind of script, written in gold ink, that tells me it would be really important for people to see, then I can move on down the road. But I’m taking a break.”
He also expressed how much he enjoyed life away from the demands of Hollywood, particularly painting, spending time with his family, and focusing on his spiritual life. “I really like my quiet life, and I really like painting on canvas, and I really like my spiritual life, and I feel like — and this is something you’ll never hear any other celebrity say as long as time exists — I have a lot of that,” he said.
Carey’s previous marriages and relationships
Before Min Ah, the actor was in a relationship with his Kidding co-star Ginger Gonzaga. The two made their first red carpet appearance together at the Showtime Golden Globes Nominees Celebration in West Hollywood, California in January 2019. By October that year, Us Weekly reported that the pair had split after less than a year.
The Mask star was previously married to his Dumb & Dumber co-star Lauren Holly. They married in 1996 and divorced the next year. His first marriage was to Melissa Womer, with whom he had a daughter, Jane. They were married from 1987 to 1995.
Jim Carrey is returning to major studio films
Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed in August that Jim Carrey will headline the live-action adaptation of the classic animated series The Jetsons. The film has been in development for years and will be their first major studio live-action project outside of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in over a decade.
According to earlier reports, Colin Trevorrow is in talks to direct and co-write the film with Joe Epstein. The original The Jetsons premiered in 1962 and followed George Jetson and his family as they navigated life in the futuristic Orbit City.
He is also expected to return as Dr. Robotnik Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is due out in 2027. There has also been news of a possible sequel to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, in which he played the iconic green man in the 2000 film.
