After reaching a settlement in his legal dispute with Blake Lively over their 2024 film It End’s With Us, actor Justin Baldoni has broken his silence on the two-year-long court battle. In an Instagram video, Justin and his wife, Emily Baldoni, described the legal battle as painful and how they faced the tough times together. However, he avoided taking Blake Lively’s name in the video.
‘There is a lot to say’
In the clip, Justin says, “We haven’t spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we don’t have anything to say. Because Lord knows we have, but it feels like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to speak. It didn’t feel like it was the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling about it and “It feels like this moment,” Emily said. There is a lot to say.”
Justin mentioned that they wouldn’t be able to include everything in the video message. Meanwhile, Emily expressed that she has “so much gratitude for so many people and so many things that have happened to us.” Justin agreed and said, “Gratitude has saved us.”
‘It was disguised as a women’s fight’
Recalling the “injustice” she experienced, Emily said, “The injustice and pain that we have also felt over the years cannot be denied. We have had to grapple with a lot of things and try to understand a lot of things, like how could something like this happen? Let alone hide it as a fight for women. There is a lot to be uncovered.”
‘A huge blow for us’
She added, “We’ve been through a lot of trauma moving forward as a family, which makes it difficult to even speak.”
Justin continued, “We don’t even know if this is the right thing to say. We just know we needed to share something. What I will say is that a lot of painful things have come to light over the last few years. It’s created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to that noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system take its course.”
“The truth and the facts speak for themselves,” Emily said.
‘We are healing’
Talking about how they are currently doing, Justin said, “We are healing. If you’ve ever been through a traumatic event, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have to rethink for ourselves what’s real, and what matters. This is it. It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community, who have been there for us, it’s our faith. We’re closer, more dedicated than ever. And have become strong in your faith.”
Emily said, “There’s so much more to say. The time will come. But right now, we’re going to focus on continuing treatment and hanging out with our kids and enjoying life.”
Justin and Blake’s legal war
Almost two years ago, Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni and other cast members associated with her film It Ends With Us in December 2024. She had filed an allegation of sexual harassment against Baldoni. He denied all allegations and filed a $400 million counter-suit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane’s PR firm, alleging defamation and breach of contract. However, his case was later dismissed.
An agreement was reached between the two parties in May. This comes nearly a month after a judge dismissed 10 of 13 charges in Lively’s case, including harassment and defamation.
