Two plays of Ninasam Tirugat – Malathi Madhav And Ankada Parade – Staging as part of the five-day ‘Conversations with the Arts’ in Heggodu received an impressive response. People from different parts of Karnataka and outside attending the annual event watched the plays staged at the Shivaram Karantha Rangamandir.
The trained artists of Ninasam Ranga Shikshan Kendra won the hearts of the audience by presenting the drama.
Ninasam’s Akshara KV, translated Malathi MadhavPresented a Sanskrit play in Kannada written by Bhavabhuti and directed the play, which was staged on 2 October, the first day of the programme. Its content covers themes of love, romance, separation, horror and human emotions surrounding the love story of Malathi and Madhava.
The drama was enhanced by the music and performance of the artists. Many times the audience was seen appreciating the effective delivery of dialogues and presentation of songs with thunderous applause.

Ankada ParadeStaged on 3 October, it is a Kannada translation of a Marathi play written by Abhiram Bhadkamkar. Jayant Kaikini has translated it into Kannada and Vidyanidhi Vanarase has directed it. The play tells the story of a group of senior citizens from different backgrounds, their lives and sufferings in an old age home.
Interestingly, the play also discusses the principles of acting. A young man, who aspires to become a theater actor, joins an old age home, pretending to be his father. There were also demonstrations within the demonstration. The script kept the audience curious about the next act. The audience also appreciated the presentation and translation of the text.

Ninasam – Sri Neelakantheshwara Natyaseva Sangha – was established in 1949, and is celebrating its 75thth Year. Since 1985, Ninasam has been organizing Tirugata, in which theater troupes stage productions in different parts of Karnataka every year. The organization has been organizing an annual event, Sanskriti Shibira, since 1990. This time it has been named ‘Conversations with Art’, in which various art forms are staged, followed by discussion.
Many writers, poets and intellectuals from different parts of Karnataka and outside are participating in the event which will conclude on October 6.
