Kodai Drama Vizha 2026, organized by Karthik Fine Arts, started with Sathya Sai Creations. Yamini Yen Kanmani (Script by Ezhichur Aravindan and direction by Mappillai Ganesh). Ezhichoor Aravindan handles humor well and he does not disappoint the audience this time too.

In the family of Panchapakesan (Ezhichur Aravindan), things are going smoothly, except for minor squabbles between his daughter Krishnaveni and her husband Kandasamy (Ramprakash). But Panchapakesan’s friend Arunachalam (Mapillai Ganesh) plans to destroy Panchapakesan’s mental peace. Problems arise when Yamini enters the scene claiming to be Panchapakesan’s daughter. Because Panchapakesan once gave in to his passion many years ago, it is quite possible that she is his daughter, and hence he is unable to drive her away.

Sathya Sai Creation's new play Yamini Yen Kanmani was staged on the opening day of Karthik Fine Arts' Kodai Drama Vizha 2026.

As if there is not enough confusion, Kandasamy’s soft stance towards any woman named Yamini further complicates the situation, pushing Panchapakesan’s family towards the breaking point. And, Yamini’s love for Rishi (Prashanth), a politician’s nephew, deepens the confusion.

Like all Aravindan’s plays, the story too had many ridiculous misunderstandings and as usual, he deftly untied all the knots in the last scene. All the actors performed well, especially Devika as Krishnaveni and Malini Devi as Yamini.

With inflections and well-timed inflections, KS Palani as politician Gas Kesavan made the audience laugh. His witty take on the current political scenario and his dig at well-known politicians left no one in doubt as to who the target was. Kesavan is delighted when he learns that his nephew Rishi can do anything for money, and predicts that Rishi has all the qualities to become an adept politician.

The play took a dig at those who expect every play to convey some message, and at the end of the play, each character came up with a different message that the play was supposed to convey. Of course, the overall message was that a clear conscience makes a soft pillow. Yamini Yen Kanmani Was well directed, and good, clean entertaining.
