While Marvel is preparing its fans for the next era of its films, it is also reintroducing one of its biggest hits. Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in an edition called Encore, which includes a post-credits scene related to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, in September. In form of Avengers: Endgame serves as a link between the Infinity Saga and the Multiverse Saga, here’s everything you need to know about the film’s re-release and Avengers: Doomsday.
Endgame Encore Trailer Is Here
Marvel released its first trailer for Endgame Encore on August 25, 2026, along with the release of tickets. The brief trailer is one minute and thirty-six seconds long, recapping some of the film’s most iconic scenes such as when the Avengers travel back through the portal, when Steve Rogers lifts Mjolnir, and Tony Stark’s emotional death scene.
The presentation format of the new release is called Infinity Vision. According to the AMC Theaters listing, the runtime of the film is 185 minutes or 3 hours 5 minutes. The original film had a runtime of 181 minutes, thus the Encore version has 4 additional minutes. It was previously estimated that up to seven minutes could be added to this new version.
What’s included in the Encore Edition?
In its theatrical re-release, Marvel has added three important components to the film. Firstly, the film will have a newly created introduction. Apart from this, some additional footage will also be shot for the film. Finally, there is going to be a post-credits sequence connecting Endgame to Doomsday.
Co-director at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland earlier this year Joe Russo described the re-release as an “important companion story” to Avengers: Doomsday. “Releasing the film is extremely important, and in fact, we will be re-releasing the film with footage set in the Doomsday story that we added to Avengers: Endgame,” he told the crowd.
What is Avengers: Doomsday about?
Marvel’s official synopsis describes the film as a story in which “beloved heroes from three different universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat the likes of which they have never faced before.”
The film is set to introduce characters from the Avengers, Thunderbolts, X-Men and Fantastic Four who face off against Doctor Doom. It is estimated that the plot of Endgame will also play an important role in the story of the film. Doctor Doom’s mention of the term “stolen lives” in relation to The Avengers implies that there are consequences to the events of Endgame.
Who’s returning in Avengers: Doomsday?
Doomsday features an unusually large cast, with Marvel bringing together characters from the MCU as well as the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises. and is at the center of the conflict Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom.
Returning Avengers and MCU heroes include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Falcon The cast includes Danny Ramirez as the Ghost and Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost.
The Fantastic Four will be represented by Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Barraich as The Thing.
The original cast of Fox’s X-Men is also making a big return. Patrick Stewart returns as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
The Thunderbolts cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbor as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry.
