actor Ryan Reynolds knows very well how to attract attention. At Marvel Studios’ grand presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, he made a surprise entrance in a Deadpool costume to help the Russo Brothers add Deadpool to Avengers: Doomsday. The conversation with Robert Downey Jr. and Paul Rudd was highly entertaining for the Hall H crowd as Marvel Studios released a special preview of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer for audiences that was separate from the online trailer released on July 20.
Deadpool appears in Hall H
The Marvel Studios panel was filled with important announcements, casting, and a showing of exclusive footage before Ryan Reynolds took the stage in a brand new Deadpool gray suit. Reynolds remained in character and jokingly campaigned for Deadpool’s inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday. The first person he talked to was Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, who brought up one of Deadpool and Wolverine’s funniest unresolved moments.
“The first question is for Mr. Paul Rudd. Where is Thor, and why was he crying?” Reynolds asked teasingly, referring to the memorable scene from the 2024 film where Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is seen holding a dying Deadpool in what appears to be a glimpse of the future. The callback, playing alongside Reynolds and Rudd, immediately made the audience laugh.

He then made a few jokes about the level of presentation that Marvel chose on the Avengers: Doomsday cast. Reynolds joked about how expensive it was to announce the film. “This seems like a very expensive way to announce a film. When do you start shooting the film?” he asked.
To which Robert Downey Jr., reprising his role as Doctor Doom in the Marvel Universe, responded that the film had already been made. “It could be, brother. Look around you. Have you hit your head?” He joked.
Reynolds wanted to further investigate how he could get a role in the film. He asked, “I see. So, no extra photography, no overages, no extra costs – maybe last minute additions?”
Then Reynolds decided it was time to exit and came up with a witty farewell. “No more questions. Happy Hogan, get the Audi. We’re leaving,” he concluded. Shortly after exiting the stage, Reynolds shared photos of himself on social media in his new gray Deadpool suit.
Marvel unveils Avengers: Doomsday with star-studded panel
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hosted an Avengers: Doomsday panel, with Joe and Anthony Russo in attendance. The panel included such great stars as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, James Marsden, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn and Tenoch Huerta Mejía. Cast member Hayley Atwell also attended the panel confirming her return to the role of Peggy Carter.
Attendees had the opportunity to view exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday, which will not be released on the Internet, thanks to event organizers. Each participant received a Doctor Doom mask and cape to make the event more lively; Additionally, Robert Downey Jr. wore the Victor Von Doom costume and invited everyone in Hall H to try it on.
Marvel also confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will bring together heroes from three different universes as they face one of the biggest threats the MCU has ever seen. Along with the on-stage cast, the film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, Kathryn Newton, Alan Cumming, and Mabel Cadena.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, releasing across Indian theaters in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
