the story
The story of ‘Kalidhar Lapta’ is the story of an old man named Kalidhar who suffers from amnesia. When his family came to know about his illness, they left him at the Kumbh Mela. There he meets Ballu, a mischievous 8 year old, but true at heart. Ballu not only supports Kalidhar but also gives him a new purpose to live.
Abhishek Bachchan’s performance
Abhishek Bachchan has breathed life into the character of Kalidhar. To show pain, loneliness and hope… He neither spoke any dialogue nor gave any special expression, he said it all through his eyes. Some scenes are done in such a wonderful way that tears come to the eyes. However, in some places it seems that the scene could have been improved a bit. Like- the scene of Kalidhar washing the dishes.
The divine sheep
Daivik Baghela, who plays the role of Ballu, has done a wonderful job. To do such an amazing job at such a young age is commendable. Let us tell that 700 children were auditioned for the role of Ballu in which Daivik Baghel was selected. Devik has been doing theater since the age of 4.
Zeeshan Ayub
Zeeshan Ayyub has played the role of Subodh very well, but the screenplay has not given him as much space as it could have. He leaves an impression with his acting, but the real heart of the story still remains the Kalidhar-Ballu bond. The film also stars Nimrat Kaur. He has also done a good job.
How is the movie?
Director Madhumitha has indeed woven an emotional story, but this story is from her 2019 Tamil film KD (Karuppudurai). The Tamil film has got an 8.4 rating on IMDb. Garrick Sarkar’s cinematography makes the film a visual treat. Some scenes are such that the eyes become moist. While Amit Trivedi’s songs – ‘Haseen Hasratiyaan’ and ‘Hans Ke Jaane De’ make the story even more emotional. The editing is very tight – no bores, no drag.
