Actor Imran Khan has approached the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRO), seeking access to documents and evidence in the show-cause notice issued to him for possible cancellation of his Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.

In his communication to the FRRO, Imran has questioned the grounds mentioned in the notice, calling them vague and contradictory. He has also alleged that the authorities have already formed a preliminary opinion that his OCI status may be revoked.

The actor has raised further concerns about the Mumbai Police report cited by the FRO, claiming that the report is incomplete and that he has not been given access to the supporting documents on which the notice is based. He has sought relevant records and evidence to prepare an effective reply to the notice.

Why was FRRO notice issued to Imran Khan?

A case was registered regarding Imran Khan’s alleged involvement in the protest held at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai on October 10. The protest was held against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Following the incident, the FRRO issued a notice to leave India before serving the actor with a show-cause notice regarding possible cancellation of his OCI status.

Imran has challenged the Quit India Notice in the Bombay High Court.

The Bombay High Court has stayed the Quit India Notice

The Bombay High Court has temporarily stayed the Quit India Notice issued to Imran Khan. The next hearing of the case will be held on November 2.

Meanwhile, the actor’s plea to the FRO seeks clarity on the material and grounds relied upon by the authorities in issuing the show cause notice. Access to these documents will allow him to investigate the allegations and respond to actions regarding his OCI status.

The case is ongoing, with the next court hearing expected in November.
