At the pre-release event, Ranbir talked about his Ramayana co-stars and showered love on Yash, who plays Ravana in the film. The actor said, “When I saw Yash, rocking star Yash’s film KGF, I first saw KGF, I became a huge fan. And then I met him one day in Goa when Namit and I went there, when he was shooting for one of his films. And I realized that this man is not just a superstar, an actor; he is a writing man; he understands one. Storytelling, he understands acting, he understands how to make a film. Go, how to direct a movie, how to act in a movie.
Ranbir spoke about Yash’s dedication and passion for filmmaking. He recalled how the actor was also working on his home production while attending Ramayana. He added, “I was really surprised because when we were making Ramayana, he was also working on his home production. And I can tell with what dedication this man works; I haven’t seen that in many people.”
Ramayana has been made on a huge budget of Rs 4,000 crore.
Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra revealed, “When we started making it six or seven years ago, people thought I was crazy because no other Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the two parts combined will have a budget of around $500 million, which is over Rs 4,000 crore.”
He added, “We’re making the world’s biggest film for the greatest epic in the world that deserves to be seen globally. And yet, I believe we’re doing it more efficiently than the biggest Hollywood films. We’re not being irresponsible—we’re being ambitious, but grounded.”
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey and Yash have played lead roles in the film.
The film is slated to be released in two parts, with the first installment slated for a worldwide release in November 2026 before Diwali, while the second is slated for Diwali 2027.
