Imran Khan landed in trouble after he was detained in Mumbai after participating in a Cockroach Janata Party protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The actor, who holds US citizenship and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, later received a deportation notice asking him to leave India by October 28.
Vikas has now raised questions on the release of his upcoming OTT comeback film, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum The film was scheduled to release on December 18. It may now face a possible delay as uncertainty surrounds the actor’s status.
The source said, “The plan was to start promotion after Diwali and move towards the release. Now, however, a postponement is being discussed. Since Netflix has not officially announced the release date, a postponement is being considered.” mid-day
“The team does not want to start any campaign without knowing the situation around Imran,” it added.
Adhure Hum Adhure Tum After a break of 11 years, there is a sign of Imran Khan’s return to acting. The actor was last seen bit lights, Released in 2015. Directed by Danish Aslam, the upcoming film also stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role.
Imran Khan’s involvement in opposition to CJP
Imran Khan attended the CJP protest on 10 October at the August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai along with his colleague Lekha Washington and cousin Zain Mary Khan. All three were detained by police before being released later that day.
After the protest, BJP leader Kirit Somaiah filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Imran’s participation in the protest violated the rules applicable to him as a foreign national. The police forwarded the complaint to the Foreign Territorial Registration Office, which issued a deportation notice. Despite holding an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, Imran was not allowed to participate in the protests, the FRRO said.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s legal team plans to challenge the FRRO’s order in court.
