Dr Sriram Nene recently spoke about being known as the husband of one of Bollywood’s biggest stars and why he never felt the need to prove himself because of his fame.

Dr Nene said people often come to him for interviews because of his wife. However, he does not see this as a problem and believes that his own professional journey speaks for itself.

“I don’t think you would say that I live falsely on someone else’s coattails. In his case, in America, nobody knew who he was and I was a heart surgeon. I recognize that here his stature is on another level and I am very proud of him. And I mean it when I say that there are very few people like him,” he said in an interview.

Dr. Nene also clarified that she never felt insecure being married to a very famous actor. “I’m very proud of him,” she said, adding that their relationship has always been about respecting each other as individuals.

Talking about how couples can build an equal relationship despite differences in their professional status, Dr Nene said both partners need to feel secure about their achievements.

“I think we were both secure in our own knowledge of what we had done,” he said.

He also credits their shared values ​​and upbringing for helping them stay grounded. According to him, treating everyone with respect is more important than one’s professional status.

“If you treat everyone with respect, from top to bottom, and take into account the way you were brought up – our middle-class upbringing was actually an advantage. Not to say where you come from matters, because I’ve met a lot of people there,” Dr Nene said.

He also praised Madhuri for saying that what people can expect from someone with her level of success is much lower than her.

“She’s a once-in-a-generation talent. When you meet her, you realize she’s not going to strike you as someone who’s done everything she’s done,” he said.

Madhuri and Dr. Nene got married in 1999 in the United States. He later retired from acting to focus on family life. The couple has two sons, Erin and Ryan.
