Ranbir Kapoor starrer film ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is being considered one of the biggest films of Indian cinema. There has been tremendous enthusiasm among the audience about the film for a long time. There are discussions that the third part of the film may also come. Its huge budget, strong starcast and gorgeous visuals make it special. The makers have also prepared to release the film on a large scale worldwide. According to reports, the film is being released on around 70 thousand screens worldwide, which is one of the biggest releases for an Indian film. However, despite being released on such a large scale, the film faces the challenge of breaking a big box office record. Looking at the initial figures of advance booking, it seems that ‘Ramayana’ will not be able to hold the record of the biggest opening of Indian films. Not only this, there is doubt over the film making it to the top 5 opening films. Despite this, the film is expected to get a great start at the box office.

Global advance booking of Rs 125 crore before release

Advance booking of ‘Ramayana’ started worldwide from October 15 on the occasion of Dussehra. Initially, ticket sales in foreign countries picked up good pace, but there was some problem regarding booking in India. Currently, there was no agreement between the film’s distributors and theaters regarding the distribution of earnings. Due to this, advance booking could not start on time in many theaters of the country. However, as the release date approached, there was a rise in the ticket sales of the film. According to the report, by Wednesday morning, a day before its release, the film had taken gross advance bookings of around Rs 77 crore for the opening weekend in India. The share on the first day was said to be around Rs 33 crore. Whereas in foreign countries the film has collected 5.6 million dollars i.e. about Rs 48 crore from advance booking. This also includes $1.5 million from paid previews in North America. In this way, the total global advance booking of the film has reached around Rs 125 crore.

Estimated earning of Rs 80 crore on the first day, dominance of Hindi version

According to trade reports, the gross advance booking of the film for the first day in India had reached Rs 33 crore. It is estimated that this figure may cross Rs 40 crore before release. If this happens then the film can make a net collection of around Rs 80 crore on the first day in India. The special thing is that the highest earning is expected from the Hindi version of the film. According to initial estimates, the Hindi version alone can collect a net collection of Rs 55 to 60 crore. At the same time, despite the presence of Yash in the film, there seems to be little hope of a record-breaking opening from the Kannada version. There have been good signals for the film in foreign countries also. It is estimated to earn around $1.6 million from paid previews in North America and more than $5 million on the first day. Based on these figures, the global opening of the film can be between Rs 150 to 160 crores. Some trade experts still hope that the film can reach close to Rs 200 crore, but according to the current trends, it looks difficult.

Difficult to break the records of ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’

If the current estimates of the opening of ‘Ramayana’ prove to be correct then the film will not be able to make it to the top 5 in the list of biggest opening films of Indian cinema. Currently, ‘Pushpa 2’ is at first place in this list with an opening of Rs 274 crore. After this, ‘RRR’ had earned Rs 223 crore and ‘Baahubali 2’ had earned Rs 214 crore. At the same time, the Bollywood opening record of Rs 205 crore of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ released this year also seems out of reach of ‘Ramayana’. The top 5 list includes ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ with an opening of Rs 176 crore. However, the film may surpass KGF Chapter 2’s opening record of Rs 159 crore.

‘Ramayana’ can defeat ‘Adipurush’, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Animal’

Even though ‘Ramayan’ seems to be missing out on making the record of the biggest opening, the film has a chance to leave behind many big films. Prabhas’s ‘Adipurush’ had earned Rs 127 crore on the first day. At the same time, Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Jawaan’ had registered an opening of Rs 129 crore and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ had registered an opening of Rs 116 crore. According to current estimates, ‘Ramayana’ can easily surpass the first day collections of these films. Let us tell you that ‘Ramayana’, made in collaboration with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, will be released in two parts. In the film, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Yash Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Laxman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The first part of the film is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second part will release in Diwali 2028.
