Aamir Khan has made films for decades, but his journey has also come with sacrifices. At the Singapore International Film Festival, the Bollywood superstar received the Screen Icon Award from Hong Kong-based filmmaker Peter Chan Ho-sun. While the honor was a major achievement in his career, Aamir explained how working non-stop for nearly 30 years affected his time with his family.
He explained that it makes sense to focus on work for a few years, but following the same routine for three decades can mean missing out on important parts of life.
His children grew up while he was busy working and he felt he had lost important years with them.
According to diversityAamir Khan said, “When I was sitting in Covid and I was thinking, I said, you know, almost 30 years have passed in my life. And it’s okay to act like a crazy person, to do what you’ve been doing for a year, two years, five years, totally fine. But if it goes on for 30 years, I mean you’ve lost your relationships. I feel like your kids are grown up. Loss.”
The actor became emotional and had to stop for a moment; The audience at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore applauded him. She wiped away her tears and shared how this realization changed the way she lived her life. For the past four years, he has tried to spend more time with his family and close friends than working.
He also felt grateful that “the idea came to me when I was 56 and not when I was 86, when it would be too late to do anything about it.”
The actor was also asked about this during the conversation 3 stupid Sequel Aamir Khan shared that director Rajkumar Hirani is working on the script and is expected to narrate the story when he returns in the next few weeks.
Aamir was also asked about the plans for the sequel Your own guess. He said that director Raj Santoshi is working on something related to the film, but did not share any other information. For now, fans will have to wait to know what happens with both the projects.
