Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana will release worldwide on November 5. After making the official announcement on Sunday, the makers revealed that Anupam Kher will lend his voice as Jatayu in Ramayana on Tuesday.
The post reads, “When evil took flight, courage rose to meet him. He fought not for victory, but for what was right. Jatayu. Wings of religion.”

The first scene presents Ravana, his face hidden under a shawl. Blending Nitesh Tiwari’s imagination with the ancient epic, this portrayal of Ravana feels elegant, grand, and refreshingly unconventional. When Ravana declares his rule over the tri-loka (heaven, earth and hell), Rama is born to save humanity from his atrocities.
Interestingly, the teaser introducing Lord Rama included shadow glimpses of Sita (Sai Pallavi) and Yash as Ravana. The trailer introduces almost every important character: Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpankha, and Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihwa (the demon prince and Shurpankha’s husband). The only major absence is Sunny Deol, who plays Hanuman.
The trailer promises a visual extravaganza and high spectacle powered by CGI and VFX. The decades-old story will be retold with a new generation of actors stepping into the legendary roles. Indian television’s original Ram, Arun Govil, appears in the film as King Dasharatha, Rama’s father.

Ramayana has been made on a huge budget of Rs 4,000 crore.
Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra revealed, “When we started making it six or seven years ago, people thought I was crazy because no other Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the two parts combined will have a budget of around $500 million, which is over Rs 4,000 crore.”
He added, “We’re making the world’s biggest film for the greatest epic in the world that deserves to be seen globally. And yet, I believe we’re doing it more efficiently than the biggest Hollywood films. We’re not being irresponsible—we’re being ambitious, but grounded.”

AR Rahman and Oscar winner Hans Zimmer have collaborated on this project for the first time.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Rahman discussed their high-profile collaboration: “It’s scary for both of us. We’re scoring something very famous and very important to the world. So in the promo, I think he had a soundscape; then I took it and added Sanskrit words at the end and everything. What’s so complex and complicated for every Indian we know to understand. The film is set to be released in two parts, with the first installment set to release worldwide in October 2026 before Diwali, while the second part is slated for Diwali 2027.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Yash have played lead roles in the film.
