Shahana Goswami faced criticism after she revealed that she has multiple partners. Now, in a recent interview, actress Swetha Keswani has come out in support of Shahana. He criticized the decision to openly discuss women’s relationships. He also argued that society often applies different standards to men and women when it comes to sexuality and individual freedom.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Swetha said, “I think she’s amazing. If she can juggle all these people, good for her. A single relationship can be so mentally difficult. It’s exhausting. Imagine having five! If she enjoys it and wants to continue, more power to her.”
“Who are these people who invest so much in other people’s lives? Can’t you do something of your own? Take care of your own life,” Swetha added.
Swetha then highlighted what she believed to be society’s double standards in the way men and women behave. He said men involved in polygamous or extramarital affairs often face less criticism, while women who are open about their sexuality often face negative comments.
“When a man has an extramarital affair, no one says anything. But if a woman is sexually active and wants to live life on her own terms, people are quick to comment, criticize and call her names. It’s such a double-edged sword, and our country can be so hypocritical about these things.”
“There are also open marriages. People have parties, sometimes called chemistry parties, where they meet others and explore relationships. Couples go together and do what they want to do. So, I don’t understand what the big deal is,” said Swetha.
Swetha was clear in her views: “If you are okay with it and your partner is okay with it, why should you live your life on someone else’s terms? She is not living for others, she is living for herself. People commenting on her life are saying more about themselves than Shahana. She is living her own life. You drink your tea, why talk to your friends?”
“Maybe their problem is that they can’t do it all by themselves,” he added.
Earlier, speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Shahana Goswami said that she does not have a “primary partner” and described the arrangement with a simple foundation of “love and friendship”. He added that there is nothing secret between him and his colleagues, who know that he is intimate with other people as well.
