Chinmay Sripada has criticized Nana Patekar’s praise after his death, supporting Sona Mohapatra, who recently shared an account alleging sexual misconduct by the actor on film sets.

The discussion started when Sona posted a comment by an assistant director who claimed to have witnessed Nana’s incidents while working on two films. The person clarified that there was no connection with the events being reported Horn ‘OK’ please.

According to the assistant director’s account, the alleged behavior was passed off as part of a scene, leaving people unable to speak about it at the time. The man also said that years later, a member of the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) contacted him and confirmed what he had seen.

Sharing the account on X, Sona questioned why women who speak out about sexual abuse face disbelief. He wrote, “An AD describes a witness to alleged sexual misconduct on set. Yet the chorus continues: “How can you believe a woman?” How many witnesses will satisfy you? 10? 100? Talent is not blameless. Charity is not character. Death is not holiness.”

Chinmai re-shared the post saying that the allegations should not be ignored as people are remembering Nana fondly. He wrote, “Those who are constantly singing the praises of Nana Patekar should admit that he did molest and it was not a one-off behaviour.”

Nana died on October 8 at the age of 75 due to a heart attack in Goa. Her death also brought renewed attention to the allegations leveled by Tanushree Dutta, who had alleged that she was sexually assaulted during the filming of the film. Horn ‘OK’ please.

Tanushree’s allegations were widely discussed during India’s Me Too movement in 2018. Nana denied the claims, and an FIR was registered. The case was closed in 2019 due to insufficient evidence.

After Nana’s death, Tanushree also faced criticism for her ‘evil dead’ comment. Sona publicly defended him, and the latest exchange has brought the allegations back into public discussion.
